How complexity leads to simplicity

I really liked this TED's speech from Ecologist Eric Berlow. In this video, Berlow is certainly right; when stating that more information can lead to a better, simpler solution. Illustrating the tips and tricks for breaking down big issues, he distills an overwhelming infographic on U.S. strategy in Afghanistan to a few elementary points.

Berlow said "the more you step back, embrace complexity, the better chance you have finding simple answers, and it's often different than the simple answer that you started with".
This records me the concept of simplexity, a possible complementary relationship between complexity and simplicity. Mind Mapping is a way to get the big picture and to simplify complex problems, replacing sentences by keywords, concepts by images and colours, using most of the space with a non-linear and holistic approach.
